This is a large cube of a nearly transparent gelatinous substance which sustains itself by absorbing and digesting any organic material it passes by. It paralyzes through chemical means any creatures that touch it (a Resistance Roll vs. Poisons is permitted). Weapons do zero damage, as the cube will merely absorb the weapon (roll STdV to retrieve). It is 80% resistant to electrical attacks, and because it has no intelligence, it is immune to sleep and fear. It is also immune to hold creature and paralyzation. Cold-based spells slow the creature by half and do double damage. Fire-based attacks do half damage. All other Resistances are as a 4th Character Level monster. The noxious cube is actually the final growth stage of a strain of subterranean lichen. It begins its life as a spore-generated algae. This algae has no possible damage or attack capabilities. As the algae grows and covers the area around it, it begins to condense into a jellylike substance approximately one inch thick. This jelly can deliver minor doses of paralyzing poison with a Resistance Roll at +15%. It can be burned, electrocuted, poisoned, but cannot be damaged by weapons. If destroyed at this stage, it is considered a 2nd Level monster worth 25 Monster Value Points per 30 foot ¥ 30 foot area. If allowed to grow, it will eventually become too heavy to remain on the walls and will ooze onto the floor, condensing still more into a slimy consistency about 3 inches thick, thick enough to actually hold a booted foot. It delivers paralyzing poison with no bonuses to resist and is 40% resistant to electrical attacks. Fire-based attacks do half damage. Cold-based attacks do triple damage at this stage. If destroyed at this stage, it is worth 50 Monster Value Points per 30 foot ¥ 30 foot area. The final stage of growth is the noxious cube described above.
