These huge spiders are elegant and smooth. Their hard exoskeleton and, indeed, all of the body, however, is clear and the only parts of their anatomy that can be clearly seen are eyes, pincers, poison sacs, and heart. All of these parts are coveted by Mages for use in making invisibility potions. As with its hairy cousin, the giant spider, the glass spider is a web builder and lives in forests, though glass spiders will not cohabit with giant spiders (they’ll just capture the giant spiders and eat them). The webs themselves look like spun glass and will slice through fleshy tissue, but is also coated with a glue-like substance to prevent the victim from running away. Escaping from glass spider web is similar to escaping from giant spider web: a 90 ST or better will do so in three Combat Cycles, an 80 ST in four Combat Cycles, etc. The extra time taken in extrication is to prevent cutting or slicing damage. The glass spider attacks in the same fashion and order as the giant spider with one addition- if a victim is poisoned, he not only becomes paralyzed, but begins to turn invisible. After two minutes, if not cured, the victim will be completely paralyzed and invisible, unable to move, speak, or breathe. The glass spider will then find the victim by following a strand of web attached to the victim at the time of the poisoning. If a glass spider is reduced to half its Damage Tolerance, it will seek safe refuge in the trees.
