Synthetic Animation, Clay

Clay Animations: These vary in size between very small (15 inches) to very large (12 foot) animations sculpted from fine clay. They may resemble anything from the Mage’s imagination.

The creation of a clay synthan requires the following Primary or Secondary Skills:

Alchemy (at +35%)
Handicrafts (at -35%)
Mineralogy

The Mage need not build the “shell” himself. It can be fashioned for him. The artist must use fine clay, any color, as long as there are no artificial colors used. The shell must be kiln-fired at high temperature. The Mage must provide at least the material for the kiln if he does not build it himself. The shell is fired before proceeding further. The arts and crafts percentage is the chance for the shell to be successfully fired. If the percentage roll is over that number, the shell cracks while being fired and the Mage must build a new one. Once the shell is built, the Mage must cast the following spells. They must be cast in this sequence and consecutively. No resting period is allowed.

The creation of a clay synthan requires the following spells in the following order:

(1) Create Inanimate Object
(2) Enchant Item
(3) Protection from... Elemental
(4) Summon Elemental
(5) Command
(6) Unalterable Aura

If any one of the spells fails, the construct will not animate and the elemental summoned forth to animate the shell may attack the Mage (50% chance). The Mage can deter this and begin again only by immediately dispelling the magic and starting from scratch as soon as he knows the spell failed.

Clay synthans start with the following base statistics:

2 Attacks per Combat Cycle
Damage per Attack: 2d10 + 1 D10 for every Monster Level over first.
