Adzam the Great has always been Adzam the Great. Even before he learned to control the cosmic forces of magic in the universes, he was "the Great." Adzam also has a congenital disease, the magical equivalent of Turets Syndrome- at random intervals, Adzam casts a random First Level spell "somewhere over there."
While adventuring with his current party, he entered into a city where magic was limited to casters bearing a paid permit. As soon as he was made aware of this, Adzam paid the requisite moneys and continued to live his life peacefully, until he interupted an illegal duel between two mages. His syndrome cast a Color spell between the two Mages, turning them both pink. They were so distracted that their spells backfired and erupted in a huge explosion. The mages were arrested, but Adzam held up his official piece of paper and declared, "I have a permit!"
