The Deck: And then there was rope light!

Well. I bought a house several years ago. Since then, things have happened... the major event, housewise, was that the deck... tilted... during the New Year's Eve party overload in 2000. So, summer of 2001, I had a new one constructed, doubling the size of the old one. Here are some pictures of the current (new) deck.

It is now 20 feet long from left edge of steps to right edge handrail and 10 feet wide from brick wall to front handrail. It is wonderfully situated, almost perfect E-W orientation so that sunlight hits it all day long... perfect for laying out and catching some rays and getting tan!

The torches I got at Lowe's. They clamp to the handrails. I burn citronella oil and it really does seem to keep the insects away.

Both night shots were taken the night of 17 Oct 2003 as soon as Ron finished installation of the 48 feet of ropelight. Yes, 48 feet. That's a lot of ropelight. And a lot of ropelight clips! And twice as many screws! I umderstand it was pretty tedious. Thank you, Ron!

The advantage of the ropelight is that it is lower than eye level and is much warmer than the single-bulb fixture I have attached to the outside of the door into the kitchen. I am hoping that the ropelight will entice people to sit outside. Should be brilliant!

Finally, I have a king-sized sheet that I've converted into a movie screen. I hold "Drive-in" theatre sometimes. It's great!
