ockinghorse Cowboy
(18 February 2006)
by Howard I. Scott, III
He was born in her 27th year
To a man who swore he’d love her through the years
She brought him home, such a pretty boy...
Cowboy’s come home to play.
Little gunslinger laughs and he waves.
He can’t possibly know what is going on.
Break
Chromed six shooters at his side.
Red rawhide hat, the one he really likes.
And silver spurs on his tennis shoes.
Daddy's gone for just'a couple days.
Stayin' with Uncle John. It'll be okay.
Cheer up buckaroo; it's nothin' you've done wrong.
Notes: This song started three years ago, but, due to many interupting conditions, including Mike's death, it never got recorded until now. A friend of mine was going through some hard times and her life centered around her young son. Things have gotten better since then, but the song persists.
